Food as data—how personalized metabolic strategies optimize energy, recovery, and long-term vitality.
Top Picks
Parrot Pal (App)
Give it a try
While it’s still in testing mode, so far it’s the most promising calorie tracking app I have played with. Most calorie counting software requires a lot of time and I believe most people can improve their body composition by focusing on protein intake and total calories. Parrot Pal allows users to do this extremely fast by taking pics, quick manual entries, and scanning bar codes if needed. Very promising!
Post meal walks
Be consistent about walking after a meal and you will be rewarded with better digestion and blood sugar control. If you are looking to incorporate more meaningful steps in your day, I recommend putting in a 15–20-minute walk after each meal if time allows (focus on biggest meal of the day, especially). When eating out, I purposely park blocks away from destinations just to make sure I get these steps. Taking an Uber? Walk first and then find the ride 🙂.
Wired to Eat
Find a copy
There are many books available around diet and nutrition. I recommend “Wired to Eat” to family and friends as it highlights how individualized food can be and provides some guidance on self experimentation, which I am always up for!
Because what you put in your body literally builds your body. At Clay, we view food—especially whole, nutrient-dense foods—as the raw materials that power your metabolism, repair your tissues, balance your hormones, and support every other element of health.
Protein isn’t just for muscle. It helps stabilize blood sugar, support immune function, and build key enzymes and hormones. It’s also the most satiating macro, meaning it keeps you full longer—making it a powerful tool for body composition, energy, and recovery. Plus, you can consume plenty of protein with a plant-based diet.
We don’t do fads or fear-based restrictions. At Clay, fueling is about sustainability, personalization, and performance. Our approach starts with data, then adds in real-life coaching and routines that actually fit your goals, lifestyle, and metabolic needs.
Protein supports every element—Body (muscle and metabolism), Brain (neurotransmitters and mood), Blood (blood sugar and inflammation), Breath (recovery and repair), and of course, Fuel itself. It’s a cornerstone of how we help clients optimize from the inside out. Learn more about our proactive, whole-body approach at Clay Health & Care.
